Brief Course Description

Earning your National Registry certification was just the beginning, now you must maintain it.  Earning the 72 hours of CE to keep this current just got easier.  NREMT requires 48 hours in content-specific areas (24 are Mandatory Core Content, 24 are Flexible Core Content) as well as the 24 hours of Additional EMS Related Continuing Education.

Our NREMT-Paramedic renewal course covers ALL of the Mandatory and Flexible Core Content, using a hybrid model of study.

This course is designed to meet the needs of:

  • Paramedic students who have been unsuccessful at the NREMT 3 times and require a "refresher"
  • Paramedics seeking to renew their local accreditation, California license and/or NREMT certification
  • Paramedics attempting to gain entrance into the NREMT for the first time or have lapsed

There will be 5 class meetings for a total of 32 hours, and 4, 4-hour home study modules for a total of 48 hours of instructor based CE.

Course Registration and Fees

Once successfully registered for the course, you will receive an email with instructions to access our site that has the course modules with quizzes.  Remember, this does NOT include any skills training or testing.

**There is no textbook required for these courses. All materials are included.**

PLEASE NOTE - ONLINE REGISTRATION CLOSES 3 DAYS PRIOR TO THE START OF THE COURSE, but you can still call the office to register.

Paramedic Refresher Detailed Course Description

It is the student's responsibility to verify their status and know their individual renewal requirements.

This course is designed to meet the needs of:

  • Paramedic students who have been unsuccessful at the NREMT 3 times and require a "refresher"
  • Paramedics seeking to renew their local accreditation, California license and/or NREMT certification
  • Paramedics attempting to gain entrance into the NREMT for the first time or have lapsed
Course Objectives

At the completion of the course, participants will have greater knowledge and understanding of:

  • Neurology
  • Pulmonology
  • Basic & 12-Lead EKG Recognition
  • Shock / Trauma
  • Endocrinology
  • Toxicology / Overdose
  • Obstetrics / Pediatrics

There will be 5 class meetings for a total of 32 hours, and 4, 4-hour home study modules for a total of 48 hours of instructor based CE. The general schedule is as follows:

  • Day 1 - Neurology
  • Day 2 - Pulmonology
  • Day 3 - Cardiology
  • Day 4 - Endocrinology, Toxicology, Shock/Trauma
  • Day 5 - Obstetrics, Pediatrics, Final

At home, during this time, you will cover 4 study modules taking online quizzes (see materials section for the modules):

  • Preparatory (4 CEH)
  • Assessment (4 CEH)
  • Trauma (4 CEH)
  • Obstetrics, Pediatrics (4 CEH)
Successful Completion

The student must earn a minimum of a 75% on each module to pass that module.  All modules must be completed successfully within 3 attempts to receive course credit.

Paramedic Refresher Course Materials

Course Process

There are four steps for the process of NREMT-P Renewal using this course. The Four Study Modules can be completed at any time once the course has been purchased and registration form filled out.

  • 1. Download and read the 4 modules
  • 2. Take the quizzes corresponding with the 4 modules
  • 3. Come to class on the scheduled days and participate in the lectures (presentation materials below).
  • 4. Complete the quizzes assigned at the end of each class.
