The EMT Renewal Course includes all 24 hours required by California and meets the CE requirements for content specific course work as required by the NREMT and for meeting the "refresher" requirements because you have failed the NREMT 3 times. It also includes your EMT Skills Validation applicable to California and NREMT renewal.
The 6 modules are guided self-study that are completed at your convenience. When you register you will pick the date to come in and test your skills. All of the CE hours are instructor based since we have a staff person assigned to you that you can call or e-mail with any questions. All materials and quizzes are on-line. We even have the skills sheets posted for you to help you prepare. This course also meets the CE requirements for content specific course work as required by the NREMT.
This now includes, at no extra cost, the Epinephrine Auto-Injector, Glucometer, and Naloxone updates and skills testing!
The EMT Skills Validation Only course is for the EMT who already has all of his/her continuing education hours and just needs skills verified. When you register you will pick the date to come in and test your skills. Our course meets the State of California and the National Registry of EMTs (NREMT) skills requirements.
This now includes, at no extra cost, the Epinephrine Auto-Injector, Glucometer, and Naloxone updates and skills testing!
The CE Only option is for those who already have skills and only need 24 hours of CE. The NREMT allows you to repeat a renewal course and get credit for the hours again. If all you need is an additional 24 hours of instructor-based CE, select the EMT CE Only. Once the six modules are completed successfully on-line, we will mail you your CE Certificate. There are no skills included in this option and no "class time" required.
If you also need to renew your BLS, you can register for this as a combination course and save $20. The BLS is done by eLearning with skills validation performed on site during your EMT Skills Validation.
We offer a couple of options for you to maintain your EMT Certification, for California of the NREMT or BOTH!
Once successfully registered for the course, you will receive an email with instructions to access our site that has all six of the course modules, the online quizzes, all of the skills sheets. Remember, this is not skills training, but skills testing. If you would like to arrange for skills training for an additional fee prior to your test date, please email us to make arrangements.
**There is no textbook required for these courses. All materials are included.** If you include the BLS eLearning, you will have access to an electronic version of the BLS text. See the Materials section below for access to EMT Renewal and Skills Validation course materials.
PLEASE NOTE - ONLINE REGISTRATION CLOSES 3 DAYS PRIOR TO THE START OF THE COURSE, but you can still call the office to register.

This course meets all CE and skills requirements for California and the 24 hour of content specific CE and skills for the NREMT.
At the completion of the course, participants will have greater knowledge and understanding of:
The student must earn a minimum of a 75% on each module to pass that module. All modules must be completed successfully within 3 attempts to receive course credit.
The EMT Skills Validation is part of the EMT Renewal Course or can be taken as a stand-alone course if you already have your CEs and just need your skills renewed. This course also meets the requirements for new EMT skills validation for EMT candidates whose skills have expired for the NREMT. The EMT Skills Validation is for competency verification only, and is NOT a skills training course.
There are no CE credits offered for this course.
Upon successful course completion, participants will have been evaluated and competency verified, satisfying both California and NREMT skills validation, in:
Successful completion of the EMT Skills Validation course means that you have passed all skills required by the certifying agency with at least the minimum score on each skill, and have NO Critical Criteria marks. If a candidate gets below the minimum score for passing on a skill, or gets a Critical Criteria mark, that candidate has failed the skill. Retest Failure of three (3) or less skill stations entitles you to a single same day retest of those skills failed at no extra cost. Failure of four (4) or more skill stations constitutes a failure of the entire skills validation, requiring a retest of the entire skills validation set required by the certifying agency. There are no same day retests available. You will have to register and pay the fee for a new skills validation course.
You must be currently certified as an EMT or have an EMT certification that has not lapsed for more than two years. The State of California and NREMT have different requirements for renewal depending on your situation:
It is the student's responsibility to verify their status and know their individual renewal requirements.
